Although we have many fundamental similarities to other life forms in our world, men and women have some gifts which really set them apart. It's what makes us special.
Our uniqueness is centred in the fact that we have the ability to "know ourselves" like nothing, or no one else on earth. Men and women have reasoning skills far superior to any organism, plant, insect and animal.
We also have a unique identity and are marked with something supernatural deep within us - a never ending spirit - an immortal soul. It is that soul that directs our feelings, thoughts and will.
Human beings have a 'Soul'
Human beings have a 'Conscience'
Human beings have 'Free will'
Human beings have 'Reasoning skills'
Your soul is not inherited from another person. It is unique. While your body may age and wear out, your soul remains forever young and new!

"It is with the Soul that we grasp the essence of another human being, not with the mind, nor even with the heart." Henry Millar, The books in my life (Pan Book of Relgious Quotations, pg. 401).
Did you know that Catholics believe that reasoning skills were given to them by God as a special gift so that they would have 'free will' to believe in Him or not?
"Spirit and matter, in man, are not two natures united, but rather their union forms a single nature." Catechism of the Catholic Church, 365
Although you can't see
a soul, there are many representations of them. Here
are a few we particularly like and have them put
into a short gallery.
