We all enjoy some kind of socialising. It's important that we have a balance between work and relaxation in life. Personally, I really enjoy cooking for my friends and family, and find that gathering round a table is a great way of building relationships and having fun. In the community surrounding you, there are no doubt many different groups of people who come together to share their interests and who also hold the same life vision and values. The church I belong to is one example of that.

Meeting up to celebrate and give thanks for the good things in my life with people who've become friends is a real joy. That's what happens when I go to Church. Some people say that you don't need to go to church to have a relationship with God, but as a Catholic, I disagree. What kind of relationship can you have with someone if you never visit them?

The Catholic Church is the only Church that has never divided or separated since Jesus originally set it up around 2000 years ago. It's an important part of my life.

Are you a member of a group or a Church? Are you a member of any club? What support and comfort does it bring you?

"Every Catholic believes that the first requisite of the true following of Christ is to belong to the visible external organisation which Christ founded."
This Is The Faith, Canon Francis Ripley, pg.130, Tan Publishing, 2002.

Catholics strive hard to be inclusive. No one is excluded from membership of our Church and I believe that makes our Church very special. It makes life in our community a very enriching experience because you rub shoulders with a diverse group of people.

Did you know that the word Catholic actually means 'whole' or 'universal'? Those two words truly reflect the church community I belong to. Our attitude is totally ‘inclusive'.

 Edwin

 Age:

 20

Edwin finds the Catholic Church inclusive. He is 20 years old, and has grown up in Wales.

I was Baptised a Catholic aged 4. My parents had recently become Catholics themselves, and we went to Church on Sundays at our local parish in mid-Wales. We also prayed together as a family at home.

Are there any things that have been passed down through your family over the generations that are important to you?

Which positive words would you use to describe yourself? Any of these the right fit?

Good looking, kind, thoughtful, helpful, generous, hardworking, charming, entertaining, outgoing.

Our church is reflected in these 4 words:

Unity

Our Church unites all kinds of people who are bound together by their beliefs and their life values.

Catholicity

Our Church is a place for everyone, where all belong equally and are welcomed.

Holiness

Our Church is holy because through it we can draw closer to God.

Apostolicity

Our Church is apostolic because it has remained faithful and has safeguarded the beliefs and practices Jesus gave his first followers (called apostles). It amazes me the Church today still teaches what the disciples taught all those centuries ago!
