If you haven't guessed it by now, this whole website is about life; about where you can find it and how you can live it to the full! Life is a very precious gift, from the very start of life until it's end. But when exactly does it begin and when does it end? Often the message we pick up from today's culture is that life is something WE DECIDE starts or ends; from the conception of a foetus in a mother's womb, to the ending of the life of a very sick or elderly person. What do you think?

Tillie

Catholics believe that from the moment of conception (when a sperm fertilises an egg) human life begins, and that that life is therefore to be protected. The foetus is a human life and has all the genes it needs to become and grow into a baby.

Fact file

A foetus = a human life.

An unborn child can feel pain.

At 30 days old the foetus' nose and mouth are clearly visible.

Abortion has long lasting harmful spiritual and psychological effects.

Euthanasia (the killing of a patient suffering from an incurable disease or in an irreversible coma), for whatever reason, is totally at odds to Catholic beliefs. Just as we believe that life is sacred, is a gift, from the moment it begins and should be protected, the same holds for when it ends. We believe that the only person who has a right to end life is God himself.

Red dots

When someone is terminally ill or elderly, Catholics believe that they should be cared for and treated with the up most respect and dignity.
